"Roman noir" is a dark urban tale of impossible love and failed redemption featuring shady characters in a mysterious urban sprawl. It is primarily made of night-time photographs taken in the bars and streets of Istanbul between 2010 and 2015. Brought up on Riddley Scots's Blade Runner, H. P. Lovercraft's, Charles Baudelaire's and Cyberpunk litterature, I'm searching for the Archetypal City, an ancient dystopian megapolis which is both the backstage and one of the central characters of a urban drama for femmes fatales and lonely heroes. Scattered with flashes and sparks, this maze of drunken soirees, night-time wanderings and seaport scenes is but a reflection of my life back then. Unspeakable threats are lurking off camera and, ultimately, there is no escaping one's inner demons.
